It’s Red Ribbon Week in Twin FallsOctober 26, 2015 - KMVT
TWIN FALLS, Id. (KMVT-KSVT) It’s Red Ribbon Week for the school across the Magic Valley.
if you’re not aware of what that is, it’s all about educating today’s youth on the dangers of drug addiction.
For organizations ‘Truth 208’ and the’ Idaho Meth Project’ the week kicked off in the Twin Falls School District on Monday with assemblies at both Twin Falls High School and O’Leary Middle School.
The program focuses on all drugs, but here in Idaho, this week is designed to educate on the danger of prescription drug abuse and meth.
“We rate 5th in the nation for teen methamphetamine abuse and 4th in the nation for prescription drug abuse. Even if you think it will never be your child… the prisons are full of people that never thought it would be them. A child is 50% less likely to use if they have those conversations at home, said Cyn Reneau for the Idaho Prevention Program.”
Each school has different activities planned for the week.
The assemblies will continue on Tuesday for Canyon Ridge High School and Robert Stuart Middle School.
